How do you play Duel and the Weekly Tournament?
In a Duel you solve five puzzles, then send a link so a friend can try the same five — lowest time wins, and wrong answers add 10 seconds. The Weekly Tournament is seven puzzles that are the same for everyone this week, with a 15-second penalty per wrong answer.
Duel
“Challenge a friend head-to-head!”
- Tap Create Challenge and solve 5 puzzles as fast as you can.
- When you finish you see Challenge Sent! and your time. Tap Share Challenge to send the link to a friend.
- Your friend solves exactly the same five puzzles (“same seed for fairness”).
“Lowest effective time wins — wrong answers add 10 seconds penalty.” A wrong answer doesn’t move you on; you stay on that puzzle until you solve it. There are no hints. Past duels are kept in your Duel history.
Weekly Tournament
“Compete with everyone on the same weekly puzzles.”
- Solve 7 puzzles as fast as you can — the same puzzles for everyone this week. The last four are harder than the first three.
- “Wrong answer: +15s penalty. Lowest total time wins.”
- The screen shows the week number. A new set arrives every week.
- After finishing you can Try Again; your best time counts.
Playing with friends
The Friends tab needs a Google sign-in (“Friends live in your account, not on this device”). Once signed in you can:
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Add friends | ”Add friends by username, or just send them a link” |
| Requests | Accept or decline incoming requests; cancel ones you sent |
| Challenges | ”Play what your friends sent you” — daily results they challenged you to beat |
| Streaks with friends | ”Build a shared streak by playing on the same days” |
| Today among friends | See how friends did on today’s dailies — you choose whether to join |
Claim a @username (3–20 lowercase letters, digits or underscore, starting with a letter; you can change it once every 30 days) and choose whether friends can find you by search. You can remove, block or report a friend from their profile.
Frequently asked questions
- Does my friend need an account to play my Duel?
- No — Duels work without signing in. The link opens the duel in the app (or sends them to Google Play first if they don't have it yet). Adding people as friends, shared streaks and the friends leaderboard do need a Google sign-in.
- Can I play the Tournament more than once a week?
- Yes. After finishing you can tap Try Again, and your best time for the week is kept.
- Is my email shown to friends?
- No. Friends see your display name, username and avatar — "Your email is never shown to anyone".
