How do Classic and the Daily Challenge work?

Classic is 25 levels of number puzzles with three lives; along the way you collect clue letters and finish by unscrambling a hidden word. The Daily Challenge is one puzzle a day, the same for everyone, with no lives — solve it to grow your streak.

Classic

On the Play tab Classic is the card called New game — “25 levels of number puzzles”. The tutorial sums it up: “Solve 25 number puzzles and discover a hidden word!”

  • Each level is a sequence to complete or an outlier to find.
  • You have 3 lives. A wrong answer costs a life. So does Show Explanation — unless you have Premium — and it is switched off while you are down to your last life.
  • Get a Hint is always a free nudge.
  • Solving levels hands you clue letters (“Congratulations! You found a Letter!!!”). At the end, the final challenge asks you to use every letter you found to spell a word.
  • Your score adds points for each level, each life you still have and how quickly you played.

Daily Challenge

The Challenges card — “New puzzle every day” — and the Daily Challenge card in the Dailies row open the same thing: today’s puzzle.

  • One puzzle a day, drawn from all 40 puzzle generators, the same for everyone.
  • No lives — “take your time to get the right answer”. A counter shows your wrong attempts.
  • One free Get a Hint before you solve it. After you solve it you see the explanation.
  • It gets a little harder as your streak grows.

View Stats opens your statistics: puzzles played, best time, current and best streak, freezes left, a distribution of how many tries you needed, and a countdown to the next puzzle. Share Result lets you post your result.

Streaks and freezes

Solve the Daily Challenge on consecutive days to build a streak. “Miss a day? Don’t worry — your streak gets one free Streak Freeze per month. It saves your streak automatically.” With Premium you get four a month.

The Daily Challenge widget

There is also a 2×2 home-screen widget, Daily Challenge status & one-tap launch, that shows whether today’s puzzle is waiting or done and opens it with one tap.

Replaying past days

The Daily Archive (Premium) lets you replay any past Daily Challenge, Kakuro or Cascade, plus a Bonus Expert puzzle each day. Replays are practice only — “they never affect your streak”.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when I lose all three lives in Classic?
You are offered a Revive for 25 credits, which lets you carry on but means the rest of that run isn't ranked. Tap No thanks to end the game and see your score.
Can I stop Classic halfway and come back?
Yes. Your progress is saved after each level, and the New game card shows "Resume L" with your level number. Leaving in the middle of a level asks you to confirm, because that level's progress isn't saved.
I missed a day. Is my Daily Challenge streak gone?
Not necessarily. You get one Streak Freeze a month (four with Premium), and it is used automatically to cover a single missed day. Settings → Game shows how many you have and when they refill.
Is the Daily Challenge the same for everyone?
Yes. Everyone gets the same puzzle each day. It gets a little harder as your streak grows.
